Pimalai Resort & Spa opened on November 1st, 2001. It is currently the only resort on Lanta island, Krabi, having received the official 5 ***** certification by the Minister of Tourism and Sports. The resort was awarded in 2004 the prestigious “Kinnari Trophy/ Excellence - Best Tourism Accommodation - Southern region”, by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and was also nominated “Thailand Leading Resort 2007” at the annual World Travel Awards. Through its commitment in preserving the environment Pimalai was awarded a “Green Gold Class Certificate” by Thailand Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; it also finally received a PADI Gold Palm Resort membership for its Dive Center.

Koh Lanta is a very quiet and natural destination with its own charm. The island is still largely unspoiled, offers some beautiful beaches, superb low and green mountain backdrops where wildlife is very well present and is at very short distances of some of the highly rated diving spots in Thailand.

Pimalai Resort & Spa is built on a splendid 100 acres of hilly land of lush tropical forest with direct access to a 900 meters pristine sandy beach. A great emphasis has been placed by the architects to preserve the environment when designing the low rise southern style buildings and this result today in a resort complementing the setting rather than competing with it.

	Great thoughts have been placed by the architects in the resort lay out, ensuring that the contrast between architectural space and the lush embrace of nature is inspirational. The little buildings of southern Thai style design complete this natural environment allowing guest to be as close to nature as they wish. 	Pavilion Suite Pavilion Suites are available in combination of one (2 units) and two bedrooms (5 units), offering a living space from 110 square meters up to 170 square meters. A separate lounge with outside wooden sun deck opens onto the bay as well as onto a private miniature garden planted with ferns and tropical plants. A corridor leads into the bedroom and the bathroom. Featured in the oversized bathroom is a bathtub overlooking another secluded manicured garden which is also equipped with an open air shower. All suite master bedrooms are equipped with a king size bed; in the Pavilion Suites 2 Bedrooms, the second bedroom is equipped with twin beds and also features a second oversized bathroom of the same design. An air conditioned living room with TV and CD/DVD sets, dining area and kitchen facilities allow you to arrange great dinner parties with your family or friends. A private 45 sqm. infinity-edge swimming pool, with a great outdoor terrace overlooking the sea and an adjacent shady Thai "Sala" complete this magnificent scenery. 	Beach Villa The Beach Villas One Bedroom are set within a landscaped garden and facing the sea. Their living space including the outdoor wooden deck is approximately 150 square meters. The villa consists of a large bedroom equipped with a king-size bed and decorated in a refined Thai style interior design including polished teak wood floor, rattan curtains and Siamese artifacts. The adjacent oversized bathroom includes double vanity basins, walk-in shower and toilets; also featured is a great panel glass encased bathtub overlooking a miniature garden also equipped with an outdoor shower. A refreshing 55 sqm. swimming pool - shared with 3 other small villas - is located just a step away from your villa and meters away from the beach. Pimalai provides internet connection at both Library Lounges that are located at the Pool Villas' estate and at the Resort. For guest traveling with a personal notebook, we have equipped all rooms, suites and villas with a Local Area Network (LAN) cable that will allow you to connect with internet. The resort has also further equipped itself with wireless connection at the Resort's Lobby bar and at the resort pool area, so you may connect to your friends or family whilst enjoying a magnificent view. Although many of our guests come to Pimalai in order "to get away from it all" for others maintaining contact with the "outside world" is important and essential. As well as offering internet communication, free of charge, the Resort is equipped to handle GSM (Global System for Mobile) communications. A nominal fee is applied for the use of this service.


	Spa The seven treatment huts equipped with double or single beds are mainly used for aromatherapy massages and body wraps or body scrub treatments. Water Sports and Beach Activities
Available free of charge are canoes, windsurf board, sailing boat and boogie boards. There are no motorized water sports (jet skis, water ski) available on the island. Soccer balls, Frisbees, children's toys and other pieces of equipment are also available.

Exercise
As well as jogging on the beach and swimming in the pools or the sea, guests may also wish to exercise in our well equipped Fitness Room or have a game of tennis, shoot a few hoops at our newly opened outdoor sports Center.

Islands Excursions
A number of small islands are part of the Lanta Marine National Park; they are protected islands and offer great snorkeling trips! Regular excursions are arranged throughout the week to Koh Rok, Koh Kradan, Koh Haa, Koh Gnai where vast coral reefs with brightly colored fish and sea life can be seen. Koh Muk is renowned for its Emerald cave; a 60 meters long tunnel that runs through a mountain and leads to a lagoon at the bottom of a sheer vertical shaft in the mountain. All island destinations are subject to weather and sea conditions.

Enjoy 2 hours of relaxing time & fun trying to catch a Squid! A combination of skills hooking a squid from one hand whilst holding a cool refreshing local beer in the other! You catch! We BBQ!

Thai Cooking Lessons
Our classes have become hugely popular; learn a few famous recipes that you can take back home; you will cook for yourself under the guidance of one of our Head Chefs; you will also receive a recipe guide booklet, a souvenir Pimalai cooking apron to take home and if you do really well, our Chef will hand you an official "Arroy Dee" cooking certificate! This could lead you to set up your own Thai restaurant back home!

Cycling
Bicycles are available at the resort with our compliments. Most of the roads on the island have now been completed slicing through the existing jungle; up, down with some great view points; you may also encounter the sight of monkeys and huge lizards.

Elephant Trekking
There are a few Elephant camps on the island and yes, you can experience the joy of riding your own elephant in Koh Lanta. Don't forget to bring a couple of bananas with you…elephants need "fuel" too!

Lanta Marine National Park Trekking
The park is located some 6 kms from Pimalai at the southern tip of the island at the end of a spectacular, although bumpy, coastal drive. It's a great walk going past fabulous trees and Gibbons type monkeys are usually there to welcome you.

Lanta Island Exploration
You may rent a car at the resort or we can provide you with a driver (recommended) to take you to sites of interest. These may include shopping at Ban Saladan, the main town on Koh Lanta and visiting the "Old Port" a traditional village on the island's east coast.

Any reservations cancelled AFTER issue of "Confirmation Voucher" and notified in writing 48 hours prior to check-in, the following charges will incur:

If paid by credit card:
Baht 500 handling charges. Refund will be returned to the original credit card used minus 5% credit card fees.
If paid by credit cash:
Baht 500 handling charges. Refund will be returned in cash.

Any reservations cancelled AFTER issue of "Confirmation Voucher" and notified in writing less than 48 hours prior to check-in, the following charges will incur:

If paid by credit card:
One-night cancellation fee by the hotel + Baht 500 handling charges. Refund will be returned to the original credit card used minus credit card surcharge of 5%.
If paid by credit cash:
One-night cancellation fee by the hotel + Baht 500 handling charges. Refund will be returned in cash.

Reservation cancellation for the below mentioned Peak periods:

Christmas and New Year peak period runs from 15 December till 20 January.
Chinese New Year end of January-beginning of February - dates fall on different dates each year, for each year the surcharge period in the hotels is approx from 26 January till 16 February dates to be confirmed per each hotel individually.
Thailand's Songkran Festival in the month of April, dates fall on different dates each year, for each year the surcharge period in the hotels is approx from 10 April till 17 April.

For peak seasons will usually result in the "NOT REFUNDING" of the deposit paid to the hotels (see Reservations during special peak periods paragraph above) cancellations conditions for the above peak periods will be confirmed per each hotel individually.

Our beach resort at Pimalai, located on the south west coast of the island of Koh Lanta Yai in the province of Krabi, lies about 7 degrees north of the equator. Please see the map on the right. You may zoom in closer by clicking on the moving circles. Getting to Koh Lanta is easy even for a first time visitor. There are several flights per day to the town of Krabi from Bangkok. Overland transport or a combination of overland and boat travel can take you to the resort. Also, overland access may be made from the adjacent provinces of Trang, Phangna and Phuket. Several ferry boats ply between nearby islands and Koh Lanta.

We stayed in a beach suite (not a "Beach Pavillon" but basically a deluxe room closer to the beach). The hotel is absolutely amazing. The pictures are, if anything, understating just how beautiful this resort is.

My husband and I like visiting smaller less touristy locations and both Ko Lanta and and Pimalai were exactly what we were looking for. We spent 5 nights at Pimalai and would have stayed longer had we not had arrangements to travel to another part of Thailand. Pools and beach are fantastic, the resort is quiet and beautiful.
